QSR Magazine: Paris Baguette Targets Mexico for Expansion

The bakery café franchise is expanding its North American reach southward to capitalize on the rich and growing markets of Central America.

Paris Baguette, the French-inspired bakery café franchise with a strong global presence, is eyeing Mexico for expansion as it continues its growth around North America.

“Being a key player in North America is a big focus for us, and knowing how successful Paris Baguette has already been in the U.S. and Canada, it’s the natural next step to bring the brand to Mexico,” Darren Tipton, CEO of Paris Baguette North America, told QSR Magazine. “The U.S. and Canada markets have been incredibly welcoming to us, largely thanks to the truly unique product and experience we offer. We believe that our community-centric approach and emphasis on quality will empower that same success in Mexico and other countries in the Americas.”

Paris Baguette believes that Mexico's diverse and growing markets offer a great opportunity for expansion. To make the most of this opportunity, they're looking to team up with a Master Partner.

The Master Partner in Mexico, acting on behalf of Paris Baguette North America, will pay a fee to the parent franchisor for the rights to open or sell bakery café franchises in their market. In return, this person will receive a share of the royalties paid by any franchisees brought on board.

Chief Development Officer Eric Lavinder noted that the team is looking to partner with multi-unit and multi-brand restaurant operators with strong industry experience who have developed the infrastructure, team and community connections to manage the growth.

“We know that this Master Partner will need to have rich restaurant experience, but we do not want to confine ourselves to a single background,” Lavinder told QSR Magazine. “We are looking for the best opportunity to partner with the right person — someone who is driven, knows the market well, and can successfully introduce Paris Baguette to neighborhoods across Mexico.”

The franchise has identified Mexico City, Monterrey and Guadalajara as key markets, with the potential to support over 100 bakery cafés in Mexico. These cities are seen as strategic locations to kickstart and drive further expansion efforts in Central America.
