The holidays are a time for generosity, and Pigtails & Crewcuts franchise owners nationwide are embracing the season of giving through meaningful initiatives that reflect the brand's mission to support families and foster community connections. From toy drives to fundraising efforts, these owners are making a difference in the lives of those around them.
Bringing Warmth and Joy to Clarksville, Tennessee
At Pigtails & Crewcuts in Clarksville, Tennessee, owner Alda Bryant is hosting a toy and coat drive to support Winter’s Angels, a local non-profit organization dedicated to assisting children in need. The donations collected will benefit 600 local children, half of whom are in the foster care system or involved with the Department of Children Services.
“Anyone can bring in a new unwrapped toy or gently used coat,” explained Bryant. “They do not need to be customers. Our hope is to create additional donations from customers that see it in the store and want to donate but they don’t have something with them. We make it easier for them and make their donation go further.”
Bryant has also implemented a unique approach to encourage customer participation, allowing customers to purchase toys from the store to donate. For every toy purchased and donated, the salon matches the contribution with an additional toy donation, ensuring even greater impact.
“If a customer purchases and donates a $10 toy, we will donate a $5 toy, too,” said Bryant. “We can also combine the values to get a higher priced toy donation from us. For instance, 20 customers buy a $1 toy to donate then we could donate a $10 toy or eight customers buy a $5 toy to donate, I could donate a $20 toy. Every child deserves to be warm and feel joy. We hope to bring a smile to as many children as possible and spread joy this holiday season.”
Spreading Cheer in McDonough, Georgia
In McDonough, Georgia, franchise owner Scott Cook has partnered with Toys for Tots to bring holiday cheer to children in need. The campaign began with a $100 toy donation from the salon’s inventory to "seed" the drive and inspire customer contributions.
“‘Seeding’ means that we contribute about $100 worth of toys from our inventory in each salon,” said Cook. “That way the organization gets something even if the customers don't contribute. I believe that great things are not done by one or two people doing great things, but by all of us doing small things on a regular basis.”
The campaign runs through mid-December, ensuring Toys for Tots has time to collect, sort, and distribute donations before Christmas.
Supporting Local Causes in Cedar Park, Texas
For Dalia Wolf, owner of the Cedar Park, Texas, location, giving back to the community is a year-round commitment. Wolf participates in fundraisers for local families, provides haircuts for clients in need and has a deep connection to the Breast Cancer Resource Center of Central Texas.
“Giving back to the community means everything to me,” said Wolf. “Our clients become like family to us, and while we celebrate their happy times, we try to be there for them during the tough times as well. The Breast Cancer Resource Center of Central Texas is an organization that is near and dear to my heart as it has been a lifeline to friends of mine in our community battling breast cancer. We are just one little business, but being a part of our community and giving back when and what we can has always been one of our core values!"
This October, Wolf continued her tradition by donating a percentage of profits from specific services to the Breast Cancer Resource Center, offering support to local families battling breast cancer.
Delivering Smiles in Happy Valley, Arizona
In Happy Valley, Arizona, owner Yvette Stumpf is running a holiday gift drive in partnership with Childhelp to support children who have experienced abuse. Customers can receive $5 off a haircut by bringing in an unopened gift or spending $3 in the gift shop. The collected donations will be delivered to Childhelp on December 20th.
“We are so fortunate now and that we always try to find ways to give back,” said Stumpf. “My family has been blessed to have been helped by our parents and so many others growing up. We feel that it isn’t just parents but the entire community that can help individuals grow to become nurturing well rounded people.”
Stumpf sees giving back as a way to pay forward the kindness and support she received throughout her life.
“We are a family salon who knows everyone benefits from kindness and encouragement,” she said. “We help anyway we can to benefit our community. Giving back means paying it forward so the love I received continues on to others.”
Making an Impact in Bee Cave, Texas
In Bee Cave, Texas, owner Amanda Short and her team have partnered with the Austin-based nonprofit 12:31 to bring holiday joy to families in need. Their efforts began with adopting a single mother and her four-year-old daughter, fulfilling a wishlist that included essentials like a small bed, Minnie Mouse comforter, boots, toys and more — totaling $400.
To fund this initiative, the salon started collecting contributions from clients, offering a "$5 off your next haircut" coupon as a token of appreciation. Within just four days, Short and her team met their goal through the generosity of 54 families contributing amounts ranging from $1 to $150.
“With that, we’ve been able to adopt another family! A single dad and son,” said Short. “We are so grateful for our generous clients allowing us to do this. We have been a part of this organization for several years. They are allowing us to deliver the gifts this year! We cannot wait.”
Through their creative initiatives, Pigtails & Crewcuts owners demonstrate how small acts of generosity can collectively create a big impact. By fostering a culture of giving, they not only spread holiday cheer but also reinforce the brand’s commitment to supporting families and communities.
