TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Franchisees Find Success With Mini-Market Model
The smaller territory and lower cost of entrance in a mini-market model helps TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchisees join the family while remaining in business for themselves.
With diverse backgrounds in financial services, software sales and managing a wine shop, Tim Kiran, Jeremy McDuffie and Brian Churney started out as employees of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® — a venture that would lead them to business ownership.
The three employees got their start at the Durham, North Carolina location of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK. Kiran and Churney worked as managers and estimators, while McDuffie held a position as a mover. In 2006, Kiran and Churney opened their first location as owners in Greenville, North Carolina. McDuffie transferred along with them and worked his way up into management, eventually joining his two friends as owners at the trio’s new mini-market location in the Outer Banks.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s mini-market territory allows franchise owners to expand to underserved areas with smaller populations ranging from 100,000 to 225,000 people, which is much smaller than a franchise’s normal reach. The mini-market model also allows franchisees to enjoy much more flexibility in their work and have less worry about staffing sizes and the number of trucks in communities where the demand for a high-quality moving service is still high.
“We’re excited to expand the company’s footprint and bring a high level of service to an underserved market,” Kiran said. “It’s great that we can come in and make a difference immediately.”
In making the move from employees to owners, McDuffie, Kiran and Churney joined the one-third of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK’s franchise system that also started out as employees and now own their own location.

There are currently 11 mini-markets across the U.S. Mini-market opportunities are available in hot territories where TWO MEN AND A TRUCK is looking to develop a stronger presence, including Georgia, Kentucky, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming and West Virginia.
