TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Introduces Mini-Market Incentives

The moving franchise is waiving its initial $30,000 franchise fee and offering reduced investment costs to new and existing franchise owners looking to operate in mini-market territories.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is pushing ahead in its mission to move people forward.

North America’s largest franchised moving company is looking to grow beyond its 380 existing locations and enter budding new market territories by launching a mini-market incentive program available to both new and existing franchise owners.

For a limited time, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is incentivizing new and existing franchisees who are looking to make a smaller-scale investment and operate in mini-market territories. The incentive will be available until 10 mini-markets have been signed.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®’s mini-market model will allow franchise owners to expand to underserved territories with smaller populations ranging from 100,000 to 225,000 people, which is much smaller than a franchise’s normal reach. This model also allows franchisees to enjoy much more flexibility in their work and have less worry about staffing sizes and number of trucks in communities where the demand for a high-quality moving service is still high.

“There are a number of states where our brand isn’t quite as established, so we’re looking to pursue those areas,” explained Pam Batten, compliance director with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®. “With our success of opening and operating a standard market model, we can continue to replicate that model and reach new customer bases with our mini market territories.”

The details? The minimum start-up cost to enter a mini-market is $100,000, and the initial franchise fee of $30,000 will be waived for those who sign in 2021 and open no later than March 31, 2022. Plus, new territories are eligible to receive up to an additional $25,000in funds to help with the costs of opening.

When partners sign their franchise agreements, they will receive $5,000 in initial incentive funds that can be dispersed for approved marketing and recruitment efforts. After three months, partners will receive an additional $10,000 for marketing and recruitment, and after a 15–24 month period, they will be eligible for an additional $10,000 incentive toward a junk truck.

But the brand’s dedication to moving people forward doesn’t stop with its clients; it's a commitment to growing with people internally as well. In order for existing franchisees to take advantage of this opportunity, they must delegate 25% of ownership to a new franchisee within the system.

“In the case of current franchises, they would have to bring on a new partner,” Batten added. “This gives someone else an opportunity for ownership while also growing your own portfolio. We released this incentive opportunity at the start of the year and have already had 15 internal people apply.”

Aside from a lower investment and added funding, operating a mini-market territory offers the appeal of a tighter staff with the same potential to diversify revenue with the brand’s junk removal and storage services.

“Operating a mini-market is more owner-operator friendly. You don’t need as much staff with a smaller territory, and there are the same opportunities to diversify revenue,” said Batten. “You can still add junk and storage in the long term or short term — all of these opportunities are open to everyone. The potential to build that in markets with the other revenue diversification is there as well.”

Mini-market opportunities are available in hot territories where TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is looking to develop a stronger presence, including Georgia, Kentucky, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Wyoming and West Virginia.
