When <a href="http://ownabuffalo.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=nader-masadeh-on-3161" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Buffalo Wings &amp; Rings</a> President and CEO Nader Masadeh went undercover to guarantee that three of his restaurants had the right recipe for success, he discovered the good, the bad and one kitchen that&#8217;s a little too hot to handle. Under the guise of &#8220;Pete,&#8221; an everyday employee, Masadeh left the comfort of his corner office to have his personal and professional journey spotlighted on the hit CBS series &#8220;Undercover Boss.&#8221; For nearly a week, he worked alongside employees to complete routine tasks, which included everything from washing dishes in a Cincinnati location to serving tables in Chicago and prepping meals in Bardstown, Kentucky. The purpose of the experience is to help people like Masadeh gain a new perspective on corporate teams should place their focus to improve operations across the system. &#8220;I knew from the very beginning that to really make this company successful, I needed to see firsthand how we execute on a day-to-day basis,&#8221; Masadeh said. After shaving his mustache, shaving his head and dying his hair white, Masadeh suited up in an orange velour jumpsuit and hit the road. Here are a few highlights from the episode: Masadeh is faced with a feisty manager. While in Bardstown, Kentucky, Masadeh dons a grease-splattered apron to take on food preparation responsibilities. But thanks to Wes, the location&#8217;s kitchen manager, frying chicken wings and fries ends up being a little more work than he bargained for. While on the job, Wes tells Masadeh that he believes fear equals respect, and he rules with an &#8220;absolute iron fist.&#8221; Shocked by the things Wes says to his kitchen staff, Masadeh later confronts him during a follow-up meeting. &#8220;I will not allow anybody to be bullied,&#8221; Masadeh said. He then asked the franchisee to decide whether or not he wanted to fire the kitchen manager&#8212;he did. One of the employees compares the company to <a href="http://buffalowingsandrings.1851franchise.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=nader-masadeh-on-3161" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Buffalo Wild Wings</a>. While visiting one of the company&#8217;s top stores in Chicago, a server compares Buffalo Wings &amp; Rings to Buffalo Wild Wings. Bad move. Masadeh prides himself in the extensive work done to introduce a new design to the stores, featuring a sleeker design and family-friendly atmosphere. For starters, Buffalo Wings &amp; Rings serves its food on china, which helps differentiate itself from the aforementioned rival. &#8220;We want to create a new experience for consumers who want the sports experience, but don&#8217;t want it in a sports bar. This is not a traditional sports bar&#8212;the dark, masculine, fried food kind of concept,&#8221; Masadeh said. Masadeh is inspired by an employee in Cincinnati. At his first gig in Cincinnati, Masadeh is tasked with dishwashing. With the help of Dave, a part-time employee with the fastest dishwashing hands in the Midwest, Masadeh is inspired by his genuine love for the company, despite the fact that he&#8217;s forced to work two jobs just to pay the bills. Saying that more stores could &#8220;benefit from hiring employees like Dave,&#8221; Masadeh offers him 40 hours at the store as well as training as a cook. Masadeh also set aside $20,000 for a retirement account for the employee. Oprah isn&#8217;t the only one who likes giving stuff away. After meeting Amber, a server and college student, at a location in Chicago, Masadeh is moved by her hard work and dedication to Buffalo Wings &amp; Rings. But after hearing that she&#8217;s struggling to pay off her student loans, he surprised her by setting up the company&#8217;s first scholarship fund. He also gave Amber a new car; in the show, the duo delivered an order in her old car, which had 200,000 miles on it.
