According to a <a href="http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-mobile-ordering-restaurants-0913-biz-20160912-story.html?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=chicago-tribune-why-restaurants-want-you-to-order-food-on-your-phone-5828" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">recent Chicago Tribune article</a>, mobile ordering has become a critical piece in every restaurant&#8217;s plan to increase sales. Customers end up spending more and coming back more on average when they use their phone to order. Restaurants that rely on delivery have been early adopters of using mobile technology in their business. Pizza makers including Dominos, Pizza Hut, and Papa John&#8217;s all give mobile credit for about half of their sales. Fast-food restaurants that have customers order with technology are seeing the frequency of customer visits increase by 6 percent and the average spending per visit increase by 20 percent, according to a Deloitte study. That study also found that customers on average will only download three restaurant apps to their phones. Restaurants should be aware that they are fighting for customers&#8217; phone space, and they need to hop on board with mobile technology quickly.
