Why is feedback important in the workplace? In this video, I talk about the need for ongoing communication between managers and employees. I describe what you can do to foster communication that&rsquo;s critical to high-performing teams.

The first reason feedback is so important is that your employees want to know they can rely on you to lead. Someone needs to steer the ship and relay information on your company&rsquo;s progress. Frequent communication, including performance reviews, will let your employees know that things are under control.

Open, honest communication keeps your team abreast of any changes that occur within your business. Change can be incredibly disruptive and may force people to adapt in some ways. The more you keep your employees in the loop, the easier it will be for everyone to continue to function in times of change.

Whether you&rsquo;re delivering praise or constructive criticism, your team sees that you care. Having an ongoing conversation with employees about how they&rsquo;re doing makes them feel more connected to you and to their work.

Another benefit of great communication between managers and employees is the motivation it creates. Constant communication should include constant encouragement. As a leader, you have a great deal of influence on workplace culture and engagement. By offering encouragement, you keep things positive and keep people moving forward.

In a nutshell, here&rsquo;s my answer to, &ldquo;Why is feedback important in the workplace?&rdquo; It unites your team. When communication between managers and employees is effective, everyone works together for the good of the company.
