Whataburger Restaurants LP pulled white buns and Texas toast from restaurants in three states this week, reportedly because of quality- but not health-related issues.

In a statement <a href="http://www.nrn.com/quick-service/whataburger-pulls-toast-buns-over-quality?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=nrn-whataburger-pulls-toast-buns-over-quality-2706849" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">excerpted by Nation&rsquo;s Restaurant News</a>, the franchise&rsquo;s corporate communications team said the recall was due to an issue with the flavor of the buns.

&ldquo;There&rsquo;s no health risk at all,&rdquo; the statement said, &ldquo;rather an impact on our bun&rsquo;s flavor caused by an unbalance in the yeast, and we want to make sure our customers get the best product.&rdquo;

The recall was issued one day after In-N-Out Burger closed 30 restaurants in Texas because of bun-related issues. Rather than closing stores, Whataburger pulled the affected bread and offered wheat-bun and tortilla alternatives for all affected menu items.
