The Charlotte Observer: Famous Toastery to open 4 new Charlotte-area locations this fall
The popular brunch franchise expands in its home state.
In 2005, childhood friends Robert Maynard and Brian Burchill created Famous Toastery to offer high-quality, convenient breakfast, lunch and brunch options in their North Carolina community. Since then, the brand has expanded through franchising and now has six locations.
Soon, that number will grow to 12. The four new Charlotte-area locations will be in the University area, Mathews, Indian Land and Concord. The brand also plans to open locations in Winston-Salem and Jacksonville. Fla.
David Lutton, the franchisee opening the four Charlotte locations, has previous business experience that makes him the perfect candidate for the job. As a former Panera Bread franchisor, Lutton has familiarized himself with marketing and growing restaurant brands.
In his interview with the Charlotte Observer, Lutton explained that his plan is to provide the Charlotte community with plenty of restaurant options, but not overwhelm it.
He said that the brand’s focus is “just taking care of the Charlotte market, not overbuilding it.”
Lutton is excited to grow the brand in Charlotte and looks forward to his new adventure.
“We’ve got our hands full for the next three years,” he told the Charlotte Observer.
