Groups Reach Deal on California Franchise Bills
On Tuesday, trade groups representing franchisors and franchisees reached a deal to amend the franchise reform law making its way through the California Legislature. The amendment to Assembly Bill 525 would give franchisees more protection from franchisors’ predatory practices. This amendment would end the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) opposition and could potentially clear the way for the legislation last year over the concerns of Gov. Jerry Brown.

McDonald’s Franchisees are Fearful of Future with Brand
According to a new survey conducted by former Janney Capital Markets analyst Mark Kalinowski, McDonald’s franchisees are fearful for the future of the company. The six-month outlook for the fast food giant is the worst it has been in the 12-year history of the survey. This comes as company profits have fallen for the past six quarters.

Yum Brands Sales Fall for Fourth Quarter in a Row
This month, Yum Brands, Inc., reported that same-store sales have continued to drop for its fourth straight quarter. This comes after the brand was accused of using expired meat in its locations in China last July. According to research firm Consensus Metrix, same-store sales in China have dropped by 10 percent, much steeper than the 8.4 percent that was predicted.

Juice It Up! Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Juice It Up is celebrating the brand’s 20th birthday with a summer campaign and seasonal smoothie. To honor the chain’s founding in Southern California in 1995, the brand will release the new California Cooler. The limited time only beverage features a blend of fresh cucumber, pineapple juice, lemonade, lime sherbet and pineapple.

Little Caesar’s fans will be happy to know that the Soft Pretzel Pizza is back on the pizza chain’s menu. In addition to the pizza’s triumphant return, the brand has also introduced their Cheese-N-Pretzel Dippers, which are available until August 30, 2015. The items will be available as a Hot-N-Ready option from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
