Instead of resolving to lose weight or save money, why not make this the year you become your own boss?

‘Tis the season for New Year’s Resolutions. Your friends and family, and maybe even you personally have already started talking about losing weight, saving more money, and maybe getting a new job.
Rick Robinson, President of Services4Franchising had some thoughts about these common resolutions.
“If you’re not saving the amount of money you’d like to, and you’re currently unhappy with your job; what is it exactly that leads you to believe going through the frustration of a job search will be worth it,” Robinson said. “You’re likely to do something very similar to what you do now for what will most likely amount to a dismal increase in pay?”
Perhaps 2016 is the year you resolve to become your own boss, and truly take charge of your financial future.
For many who have always served as an employee and never been the employer, getting started can be a daunting task. There are options you can explore however, that make business ownership attainable, even if you have never ventured down this path before.
“Franchising is the fastest, easiest and most secure way today to become self-employed,” Robinson said.
Of course there are risks; no great reward comes without any risk - that’s just the name of the game. Risks in opening a business through franchising however are greatly minimized, because you’re buying into a business model that’s already been tested and perfected and you will have the support of an expert team whose sole job is to do everything in their power to ensure your success.
When it comes to finances, many people find frustration in the fact that no matter how far they move up the ladder, they’re not able to save as much money as they need to or aren’t able to provide all of the things they’d like to for their family.
“The only true way to take control of your own financial goals and achieve the level of prosperity you seek is to do just that, make sure you are the one in control,” Robinson added. “Business ownership particularly through franchising is really the only guaranteed opportunity for exponential growth as dictated by the business owner’s own personal growth goals.”
By remaining an employee of someone else, you’re inevitably subjecting yourself to the glass ceiling at one point or another - where unless you plan on buying out the company you’re working for, there’s nowhere else for you to go.
“There’s a quote I’m always reminding my clients of and it’s ‘If you don’t build your dream, someone else will hire you to help them build theirs,’” said Robinson. “And when we’re talking about a resolution to make our lives better, what could be better than resolving to make your own dreams possible?”
Robinson says for those unsure of what business category they may be interested in, they can contact Services4Franchising for an analysis in which they’ll be presented with some options that may work for them, based on their goals, experience and existing capital.
