Airlines and Construction Among Industries Increasing Pay to Attract Workers

These industries are not alone in their efforts to retain talent.

The airline, truck driving and construction industries are increasing wages in order to attract more workers, according to a Fox Business report.

Citing FedEx’s announcement last week to raise wages for pilots, Fox Business pointed out that these particular industries are increasing wages on their end to attract much-needed pilots, truck drivers and construction workers.

These industries are not alone in their efforts to attract and retain talent. Amazon, for one, announced last week it would increase its minimum wage to $15 starting November 1.

The franchising industry is also feeling the pinch from having a lack of steady talent. The “Fight for 15” movement has been felt throughout the franchising industry, particularly in the fast food sector, as many eating franchises struggle to retain employees who are more and more reluctant to enter and remain in the fast food industry.

The Fox Business report noted that construction jobs such as crane operators and foremen can earn six-figure salaries and truck drivers with less experience than their more seasoned colleagues can make anywhere between $60,000 to $70,000.
