Austin Business Journal: Slim pickings for Slim Chickens as restaurant searches for premium Austin locations
Slim Chickens targets Austin for new franchise opportunities.
Slim Chickens is currently on the hunt for the perfect space for a new location in Austin. Chris Dharod, vice president of SSCP Management Inc., based in Dallas, and his family owns the Central Texas territory for Slim Chickens restaurants. In the next year, Dharod has plans to bring a Slim Chickens location to Austin in the next year.
Dharod is looking to do a ground-up development with a patio and drive-through lanes. However, with limited space in the Austin market, it may be a challenge. Nevertheless, it’s a hurdle he is ready for.
"I'd like to have seven to 10 stores around Austin, but we want to find the absolute best locations," Dharod told the Austin Business Journal. "We've made a lot of good progress so far."
Slim Chickens, a “better chicken” franchise based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, plans to offer Austin a new chicken experience.
"Our food and our ambiance is far superior to other chicken restaurants," Dharod told the Austin Business Journal. "Our chicken is never frozen. We offer salads and wraps, too. Our restaurants are open with big TVs."
