Kalpesh Bhandari, a seasoned entrepreneur with over two decades of experience, is bringing a new dining concept to Valley, Alabama. With a rich background in retail and hospitality, Bhandari has been a part of the Valley community for the last 16 years. His journey into franchising began with an opportunity to develop real estate and bring national brands to the area. Now, he is excited to introduce Beef 'O' Brady's, a family-friendly restaurant and sports bar that promises to be more than just a place to eat.

"We are not just creating a typical standalone restaurant," Bhandari said. "We aim to create a place where families can have quality time, enjoy sports, and participate in various activities. We want to ensure that the food and the ambiance are top-notch so that people can enjoy their time and have memorable experiences."

In fact, Bhandari’s ambitious franchise location will be the second-largest Beef ‘O’ Brady’s restaurant in the U.S., with a floorplan of 6,500 square feet and a 2,500 square foot patio. According to Bhandari, it will also be a significant source of employment in the Valley, providing an estimated 45-50 full-time jobs.

The support from Valley has been instrumental in making this project a reality. The city facilitated the acquisition of a city-owned location and provided necessary approvals, which ensured a smooth development process. Bhandari appreciates this collaboration and looks forward to giving back to the community. "We want to ensure that whatever we build in Valley gives back to the community," he said. "Our goal is to run this business successfully and achieve our objectives. If this location does well, we plan to open other Beef 'O' Brady's in surrounding towns, taking the same concept we built in Valley and expanding it."

Bhandari’s enthusiasm for Beef 'O' Brady's is matched by his admiration for the franchising team's support and the brand's comforting food concept. "The management team was easy to work with, and their food concept is straightforward yet comforting. It’s not just southern food but comfort food that people feel comfortable eating daily."

1851 Franchise recently spoke with Bhandari about his journey into franchising with Beef ‘O’ Brady’s and his plans for the future.

1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?

Kalpesh Bhandari: I have been in business since 2001, engaging in multiple lines of business. I have been in Valley, Alabama, for the last 16 years, focusing on retail sales. During this time, I had the opportunity to develop some real estate in Valley, bringing in national brands. One of these was a coffee shop, and the second is Beef 'O' Brady's. This is how we started our franchise with a restaurant bar and grill. We signed up with Beef 'O' Brady's to bring a unique food concept to Valley, Alabama.

1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?

Bhandari: Before becoming a franchisee, I viewed franchising as a way to bring recognizable brands into local communities, benefiting residents with new food and entertainment options. Now that I am in it, I want people to know that franchising is about more than just food. It's about creating a space where people can socialize, bring their families and enjoy quality time together. The ambiance and attraction of the location are crucial to this experience.

1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?

Bhandari: What excites me most about Beef 'O' Brady's is the support from the FSC team. They have been fantastic to work with and very eager to see the growth in our location. The management team was easy to work with, and their food concept is straightforward yet comforting. It’s not just southern food but comfort food that people feel comfortable eating daily.

1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?

Bhandari: We want to ensure that whatever we build in Valley gives back to the community. Our goal is to run this business successfully and achieve our objectives. If this location does well, we plan to open other Beef 'O' Brady's in surrounding towns, taking the same concept we built in Valley and expanding it.

1851: What is the one thing about your story you want us to know?

Bhandari: I want people to know that our concept is not just about creating a standalone restaurant. We aim to create a place where families can have quality time, enjoy sports and participate in various activities. We want to ensure that the food and the ambiance are top-notch so that people can enjoy their time and have memorable experiences.

I also want to mention how the city of Valley helped us develop our restaurant. We purchased a city-owned location for the development. Our location will be the second biggest Beef ‘O’ Brady’s — a total of 6,500 square feet, including a 2,500 square foot patio. It will also be a significant source of employment, bringing in about 45-50 full-time positions.

1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?

Bhandari: My advice for potential franchise owners is to work with a great team. Follow their suggestions and their proven concept. If you follow the franchise protocols, rules and regulations, you can achieve your financial goals. It's important to know what you are getting into and be prepared for the daily routines of your business. Working with a team that supports you can make all the difference in your success.
