A former teacher, McCarthy coached the Lady Gamecocks women’s soccer team for ten years before briefly going into the commercial real estate business. Bowers and Bunch were already looking into another business venture, but they needed someone to run it — and that’s when they presented&nbsp;<a href="https://www.govavia.com/franchise-with-us/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=columbia-south-carolina-native-clark-mccarthy-to-open-markets-first-vavia-franchise-2717067" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">VaVia</a>, a dumpster rental franchise, to McCarthy. After the trio met the franchisors in Nashville, they knew they had found the perfect match in the unlikely field of waste management.
