Facebook Unveils Food-Delivery Service

The social media platform will aggregate food-delivery options for users and allow them to order without leaving Facebook

Facebook announced in a blog post on Friday that the social-media platform now offers an in-platform food-delivery service. Rather than developing a new platform, Facebook’s service aggregates existing third-party food-delivery services, including Delivery.com, DoorDash, and EatStreat, and allows users to order from those platforms without leaving Facebook.

The service leverages Facebook’s massive trove of data to recommend food and delivery options based on users’ locations, preferences, and recommendations from friends. Users can also log into their delivery-service accounts or sign up for new ones without leaving the Facebook app.

From the blog post:

Facebook combines options from a number of food ordering services like EatStreet, Delivery.com, DoorDash, ChowNow and Olo, as well as restaurants like Jack in the Box, Five Guys, Papa John’s, and Panera, so you don’t have to search through multiple places to find what you’re looking for. From local spots to national chains, Facebook connects you with old favorites and new discoveries in just a few taps. You can even check out what your friends have to say about a restaurant before you order your food.

Facebook’s food-delivery service is available in the U.S. now on the iOS and Android apps as well as the desktop platform.
