Dog Training Elite, a leading franchise in the pet training and obedience industry, is seeking buyers for existing franchise territories in Philadelphia that are currently owned by CEO Betsy Feaster. This strategic move is part of the company's efforts to optimize its operations and scale back Feaster's local ownership as she focuses more on corporate duties and the strategic growth of the brand.

Kelley Rosequist, director of development for Dog Training Elite, shared some insights into the current franchise opportunities in the Philadelphia area. “We currently have two franchisees in the Philadelphia market including Philly as well as the southeast Pennsylvania area,” she said. “One of those owners is Betsy Feaster, our CEO, who currently owns 15 territories here. We're looking to resell some of those. Betsy started as a franchisee and now she’s the CEO of the franchise system, so we need to be able to scale back some of her local ownership to allow her to focus on leading a successful business as a whole.”

Investing in a Dog Training Elite franchise is a promising opportunity for entrepreneurs, especially given the current strength of the pet market. “The pet market is very strong right now, particularly the training sector,” said Rosequist. “Post-COVID, many people are still very dependent on their dogs, integrating them more actively into their lives. Training these dogs to cope with changes, such as owners returning to the workplace, is crucial. We're seeing a lot of separation anxiety and similar issues.”

Rosequist also pointed out that the service dog and therapy dog sectors are experiencing significant growth. “People are learning all the ways dogs can contribute to their lives and livelihoods,” Rosequist said. “We're seeing more people utilizing service dogs and many organizations and companies are integrating therapy dogs.”

Philadelphia's diverse clientele further enhances the appeal of these franchise opportunities. “More toward the city, we’re definitely dealing with a different type of pet owner. It’s more urban; people live in tight quarters without a lot of space, so their dogs need to be well-trained for walks, park visits, and other activities,” Rosequist said. “We also have clients on farms and in wooded areas, so there’s a lot of diversity in both our clientele and the type of training we’re doing in this market.”

This diversity in clientele means that franchisees can offer a wide range of training services, catering to various needs and environments. Whether it's urban dog owners requiring basic obedience training or rural clients needing advanced behavioral training for their pets, Dog Training Elite provides the necessary support and programs to meet these demands.

As Betsy Feaster shifts her focus to corporate responsibilities, the Philadelphia territories present a unique opportunity for investors. “Betsy will be focusing more on corporate duties and the strategic growth of the brand as a whole, ensuring we can continue to add new services and opportunities for our franchise owners,” said Rosequist.

Dog Training Elite's move to sell Feaster’s franchises in Philadelphia offers a lucrative investment opportunity. With the pet market booming — particularly in the training sector — and a diverse clientele in Philadelphia, prospective franchisees are well-positioned to succeed. The company's commitment to innovation and support for franchisees further enhances the attractiveness of this investment.
