Entrepreneur Magazine: Bringing a New Fitness Franchise to the Pacific Northwest

Rick Hascall had always wanted to start his own business, and after seeing his two friends become successful franchisees, he decided to try it out for himself.

So, he opened a Workout Anytime location in Beaverton, OR.

“I have friends who walked down the path ahead of me and showed me the way,” Hascall said in an interview with Entrepreneur Magazine. “It looks like a user-friendly way of owning your own business and it gives you the peace of mind knowing that you are going into a proven business model. This relieves a lot of the stress of opening your own business and not knowing if it is going to be successful or not.”

His location is the first in the Pacific Northwest, giving the brand 57 locations nationwide.

While researching franchisees, Hascall said he had a lot of help from family and friends.

“I got most of my advice from friends and family as is most often the case in making important decisions that affect not just you but those around you,” he told Entrepreneur. “My research was done online and by visiting some of the Workout Anytime franchises and their owners as well as visiting and speaking with the corporate headquarters and the owners of the franchise itself.”

He suggests that others hoping to become franchisees do their fair share of research as well, and find the brand that works best for them.
