FirstLight Home Care Closes 2018 On a High Note

After an impressive year, FirstLight Home Care enters 2019 as one of the home healthcare industry’s biggest franchise players.

As the calendar changes from 2018 to 2019 and FirstLight Home Care franchise reflects on the last year, there are quite a few accomplishments for the brand to hang its hat on. Be it with same-store sales growth, development achievements or technological innovations that navigate the complex healthcare and home health industries, FirstLight made its mark this year. And without missing a beat, the 160-plus unit brand known for its reliability and compassionate service is already gearing up to expand upon its already impressive growth into 2019.

“We fared very well in 2018, becoming the fastest-growing home care brand in the U.S. in terms of revenue growth and new markets added,” FirstLight CEO Jeff Bevis said. “We’ve continued to lead the industry in several areas, including new technological innovations and additions to our service offerings,” he added.

Year to date, FirstLight has experienced a 17 percent increase in same-store sales growth with the books still not closed on 2018. Impressively, FirstLight also entered 24 new markets and saw existing franchisees expand into nine additional untapped markets. The brand’s impressive growth didn’t stop there, however. The year also saw FristLight sign its first independent home care conversion franchise in Greensboro, North Carolina, an achievement that was the first of its kind across the entire industry.

Beyond achieving industry-leading growth numbers in the last year, First Light has experienced overwhelmingly positive feedback from its franchisees. Bevis noted that in 2018, FirstLight received its seventh consecutive 4-Star rating in Franchise Business Review’s annual Franchisee Satisfaction Reviews.

“We continuously receive strong feedback from our owners,” Bevis said. “With FirstLight’s strong positioning, our owners are very bullish on the trends in both healthcare and home care for 2019 and years to come.”

Bevis explained that the brand’s ability to stay up-to-date and ahead of changes in the healthcare and home health industries keeps its franchisees prepared and instills confidence in FirstLight’s solution-oriented strategy.

We pride ourselves on consistently enhancing our technology platform to stay abreast of, and even out in front of changes to the healthcare landscape, in both Medicare and other third-party payor requirements,” Bevis said. “We also continue to invest in state licensure support as more states adopt much-needed service standards for home care offerings.”

Working ahead of the curve brings about a wealth of opportunity for FirstLight in the coming year. “We view future industry shifts set to arrive in 2019 as being very healthy for FirstLight, helping us to further reinforce and elevate our service leadership across our industry for technology innovation, client satisfaction and caregiver retention,” Bevis continued.

The brand will also take the knowledge gained from successful development efforts in 2018 and use it to refine its approach to growth in 2019. FirstLight plans to enter smaller markets and areas with a strong need for higher-level care and services by further building out its independent conversion program as a means to attract qualified operators seeking support and bandwidth to grow their businesses.

Thanks to ample industry knowledge, a forward-thinking leadership team and a dedicated system of franchisees, FirstLight finds itself in a very strong and strategic position as it prepares for growth in 2019.
