Why Opening a fitWAVE Fitness Concept Won’t Break the Bank
Compared to other boutique fitness concepts, emerging group fitness brand fitWAVE keeps the price low and the buildout process easy for franchisees.
fitWAVE, a group-workout concept focusing on mobility, core, balance and strength, offers investors a chance to tap into the $4.2 trillion dollar global wellness industry by getting in on the ground floor of an innovative fitness franchise for far less than the cost of other boutique fitness brands.
Created by Jason Markowicz, CEO of Fit for You Franchising & Fitness Premier 24/7 Clubs; Rick King, vice president of Fitness Premier 24/7 Clubs; and industry veteran Josh Chrestman, a former D1 football player and high school wrestling champ who founded the brand, the workout method takes members through phases or “waves” that allow both athletes and casual exercisers to reach their peak potential.
Born out of a desire to help up-and-coming entrepreneurs and fitness enthusiasts become successful business owners, the brand’s wide array of services represent multiple income stream opportunities for franchise partners, while helping them build up a dedicated fan base quickly.
The initial cost to open a fitWAVE ranges between $97,850 to $200,000 total, including a $30,000 franchise fee. Other boutique concepts can cost upwards of $1 million.
The estimated total investment to launch an Orangetheory franchise, for example, ranges from $657,542 to $2,105,322, which includes a franchise fee of $59,950.
The estimated total investment to launch a Pure Barre franchise ranges from ??$198,650 to $446,250, which includes a franchise fee of $60,000.
The estimated total investment to launch a Crunch Fitness franchise ranges from $304,500 to $2.1 million, which includes a franchise fee of $25,000.
Part of the reason fitWAVE is able to keep its startup costs relatively low is due to its smaller-than-average footprint, said King. “fitWAVE was designed to help franchisees keep overhead costs very low,” said King. “That allows franchisees to scale up and add on revenue streams as they grow, with the full support of experienced fitness industry veterans to help them.”
While the brand’s membership model and group training is the main revenue stream for franchise partners, they can also build additional revenue through one-on-one personal training, youth sports-specific training, recovery and massage options as well as food, smoothie and supplement sales.
fitWAVE franchisees also have the option to open a Fitness Premier 24/7 Club, acting as more of a traditional gym where members can show up and workout on their own schedule. Both concepts share the same franchisor work in tandem.
fitWAVE’s model also allows franchise partners to focus on helping their members and their community without worrying about programming, payroll, hiring, marketing, accounting, billing support and more, all of which is provided by the franchisor. “We take care of day-to-day business operations so franchisees can build their membership and ride the wave to success,” added King.
Set to open its first franchise location in Minooka, Illinois this fall, the emerging fitness brand is ready to take on the competition, said Chrestman. “We’re excited to show people in Illinois — and interested fitness entrepreneurs everywhere — what fitWAVE is all about and how easy it is to open one. We designed this to be less expensive than the competition, but fitWAVE can still compete in any market.”
About fitWAVE:
fitWAVE is a group-workout concept oriented around 16-week cycles that focus on mobility, core, balance and strength through a series of 60-minute workouts. Designed by athlete and fitness industry veteran Josh Chrestman, the program puts members through phases, or “waves,” that allow them to reach their peak potential. fitWAVE offers a flexible footprint that can fit almost any retail space with a scalable concept that goes from 1,500 to 3,000 square feet. And unlike most fitness concepts, which rely on large, densely populated urban markets, fitWAVE was designed to succeed in towns as small as just 15,000.
