Meet the Women in Leadership at Footprints Floors

Rachel Simpson, Laura Murphy, Debbie Melkonian and Lorrie Jo Quinn foster a supportive culture that empowers franchisees and drives company growth.

Footprints Floors, a leading flooring franchise with over 150 locations, isn’t just a business; it’s a community where support and teamwork are at the core of its culture. The women in leadership at Footprints Floors play a big role in making that happen.

To get to know the women behind the franchise, 1851 Franchise is highlighting the stories of four key leaders: Rachel SimpsonLaura MurphyDebbie Melkonian and Lorrie Jo Quinn.

Rachel Simpson — Vice President of Finance and Compliance

Simpson has been with Footprints Floors for over 11 years, but her connection to the company started much earlier. She’s known Bryan Park, the company’s founder, for more than 20 years. Rachel was working in hotel sales and event planning when Park approached her about joining Footprints Floors.

The role gave her the flexibility to balance work and family life, which was important as she started her own family. Simpson now serves as Vice President of Finance and Compliance.

"My favorite part of working for Footprints is just the trust and the confidence that the leadership team, especially Bryan, has in me," said Simpson. "He empowers others to do the right thing and work with integrity."

In her role, Simpson supports franchisees with financial systems and compliance issues. "During teaching, we often say that there's nothing franchisees will come across that we haven't already experienced ourselves," she said. Her experience and knowledge make her an essential resource for franchise owners.

Laura Murphy — Executive Assistant

Murphy’s background is in administrative work and construction-related tasks. After taking time off to raise her five children, she decided to return to the workforce. She met Park through her church, and after learning more about Footprints Floors, she joined the company.

Today, Murphy is the executive assistant at Footprints Floors, handling everything from administrative support for Bryan to managing franchisee spreadsheets and organizing major company events.

"Footprints Floors provides constant support to its franchisees," said Murphy. "We’ve built out a comprehensive help desk with a ticketing system, ensuring that franchisees get the assistance they need quickly."

What Murphy loves most about working at Footprints Floors is the company’s strong focus on balancing the professional and personal lives of its employees. "The concept of work-life balance is incredibly important here," she said. "Our entire director team is committed to being servant leaders."

Debbie Melkonian — Vice President of Managed Services

Melkonian has been with Footprints Floors for nearly 12 years, working her way up from her position as a customer service representative to become the vice president of managed services. Melkonian was introduced to Footprints Floors through Park’s wife, and her role has grown alongside the company.

Melkonian now oversees the customer service team. "We help set up lead sources, communicate with customers, and represent our owners in various regions," she said. "We’re trying to make an amazing first impression."

Melkonian values the strong sense of community and support at Footprints Floors. "It's continued to grow over the years," she said. "We’ve really had the ability to surround ourselves with people that love to work together."

Lorrie Jo Quinn — Director of Managed Services

Like Melkonian, Quinn has been with Footprints Floors for nearly 12 years. She started part-time and quickly moved into a full-time role. As director of managed services, Quinn is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the customer service team, making sure franchisees are well-supported.

Quinn appreciates the strong sense of professionalism at Footprints Floors. "I think everybody respects each other within the community," she said. "Whether the situation is great or not, it is dealt with professionally."

Quinn is also excited about the future and the opportunities that Footprints Floors offers. "The bigger we get, the more we can learn and grow," she said.
