1851

John Turner has been practicing law since 1993, when he graduated from Southern Methodist University. He spent the next 14 years working at his own private practice and another eight-plus&nbsp;years working in-house in loan administration before he and his wife packed their bags and moved to Bradenton, Florida. Upon their move, John decided it was time to look into franchise opportunities locally and that&#39;s when he discovered Buzz Franchise Brands and was pointed in the direction of Pool Scouts*.&nbsp;

He and his wife knew quickly that there was a natural fit for them and they decided to dive into the opportunity, bringing Sarasota, as well as the entire state of Florida, their very first Pool Scouts location this May.&nbsp;

Could you elaborate on your background and journey to Pool Scouts?

I was born in Dallas and lived and worked there most of my life. I completed my bachelor&rsquo;s degree at the University of Texas at Arlington and then went to law school at Southern Methodist University and graduated from there in 1993. I&rsquo;ve been practicing law since, primarily specializing in bankruptcy, reorganization, and commercialization, and I worked out of my own private practice since I graduated up until 2007. It was then I decided to scale it back and work in-house at a number of financial service companies in the Dallas area, focusing on loan administration.

My wife is originally from Peru and missed the beach and the water, so we decided it was time to make a move last year, finally. We moved from Plano, Texas, to Bradenton, Florida. Upon our move, we started to look at franchise opportunities and that&rsquo;s when we found Buzz Franchise Brands and Pool Scouts.

What ultimately led you to join the Pool Scouts team?

When we moved to Bradenton, I decided to get my license to practice law in the state, as more of a backup plan, but our original goal was to begin the process of opening our very own business.

We first heard of Buzz Franchise Brands after becoming interested in opening Mosquito Joe, but quickly learned that there were no more territories remaining in the area. It didn&rsquo;t take long for us to be pointed in the direction of Pool Scouts, though. Since we had spent so much time researching Mosquito Joe and Buzz Franchise Brands, we already knew the support system in place would be a fit for us and Pool Scouts. I really liked what I saw.

What about Pool Scouts is a fit for the Bradenton area?

There are so many homeowners with pools in the area that this service just makes a lot of sense. We&rsquo;re on track to open in May, as it stands. We have the luxury of being able to operate out of our home for the time being. We&rsquo;ll be opening up in three territories: North and South Sarasota, and Lakewood Ranch, as well as unincorporated parts of Sarasota and Manatee counties.
