Kevin Emery of Wallingford, Connecticut,&nbsp;is teaming up with his son, Jake, a soon-to-be college graduate from Western Connecticut State University, to open <a href="http://www.gymguyzfranchise.com/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=franchisee-spotlight-kevin-emery-of-gymguyz-12298" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">GYMGUYZ</a> in their hometown. After teaching in the area district for 12 years, Kevin decided to take his career in a different direction to follow his passion for fitness and health. This new mobile fitness company will open in mid-June, right around Father&rsquo;s Day, and will service the Wallingford, Cheshire, Durham, Madison, and Guilford area.

Jake, who will receive a degree in health and wellness in December, will be his dad&rsquo;s first employee as a personal trainer.

What were you doing before partnering with GYMGUYZ?

I graduated from Marist College in 1986 with a bachelor&#39;s degree in criminal justice. After graduating I served on the New Haven Department of Police Service until 2003. I changed courses and decided to get my teaching degree from Connecticut State University and have been teaching in the Meriden Public School District for the past 12 years. I left teaching last year to pursue my dreams of working in fitness and got certified as a personal trainer, Mental Toughness Coach and Fitness Nutrition Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

How did you learn about GYMGUYZ&nbsp;and what made you ultimately decide to commit?

My son is a senior at Western Connecticut State University and is pursuing a degree in health and wellness. I was searching for possible job opportunities for him once he graduates and came across an advertisement for GYMGUYZ searching for a personal trainer. When I looked more into the company I noticed that they were a franchise. After speaking with current franchisees and CEO Josh York,&nbsp;I really felt comfortable with getting into the company. I really believe in what they are trying to do and really want to be a part of it.&nbsp;I have a passion for fitness and health, it&rsquo;s always been a big part of my life but I also want the opportunity to help people live a healthier life, too.

My son Jake&nbsp;will be a personal trainer once he graduates college in December 2017. It has always been a dream of ours to go into business together so this is a great way to achieve that goal.

Why is Wallingford a great market for GYMGUYZ?

Wallingford is a residential area. I think the community will really take well to the new business. I live in the community and was a football coach at Maloney High School in Meriden&nbsp;&nbsp;so I think my connections in the neighboring towns will also help our success.
