Adrían García, a seasoned real estate developer from Mexico, is making a meaningful investment in the Orlando community he now calls home. After relocating to Florida three years ago and earning a degree from Valencia College, García identified a need for higher-quality painting services in the area—and saw an opportunity to bring his expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to meet that demand.
Leveraging his prior experience in development and property management, García considered multiple business models in the renovation space but was ultimately won over by Fresh Coat’s robust support and steadfast commitment to quality in the customer experience.
García took the time to chat with 1851 Franchise to discuss all of this and more. Here’s what he had to say:
1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What do you want us to know?
García: I have been a real estate developer for the past eight to nine years in Mexico. When I first came to Florida, I was a student, and I oversaw my family’s real estate business at the same time.
I’ve been a part of the Orlando community for three years and hold a degree from Valencia College.
1851: What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?
García: I was always interested in the renovation and remodeling business. Franchising made sense to me because of the support. Out of all of the franchises I looked at across flooring, roofing and painting, Fresh Coat had the best support out of all of them. It has a robust team of coaches, and a team of franchise owners in general, that can help me understand the business landscape in the U.S.
1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchisee, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?
García: My perception of franchising was shaped by how the franchise model can support the E-2 visa process. I felt nervous about making this investment, but Fresh Coat’s consistent support made me more confident.
I think a prospective franchisee should know that Fresh Coat has a very robust system in place. They offer coaching for every step and have created a very clear path to success.
1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?
García: I chose Fresh Coat because of its support system and the professionalism we offer our communities. We are certified, licensed and insured, and we’re very safe for homeowners in that aspect. We’re very reliable, and we have high standards when approaching painting and other processes.
1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?
García: I hope to expand my business significantly, starting by serving customers in the Lake Nona area. I want to expand my marketing and cater it so we can also reach the Hispanic and Brazilian communities in South and Southeast Orlando.
I’ve purchased two territories in the area, and my focus is on building up the first territory before strategically expanding into the second while I support my community and build something meaningful here.
1851: Is there anything else about your story you want us to know?
García: I’m an active member of the Orlando community. I love horseback riding and haven’t been able to do that for a while, but I’ve connected with a ranch for horseback riding classes. They will be doing a charity event for children with disabilities soon, and I’m excited to meet a lot of awesome people and reconnect with the horseback riding world through that.
1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming franchise owners?
García: Understand that a good franchisor has a very robust system in place, and they should offer coaching for every step of the way. They will lay out a clear pathway for how to approach and initiate the business, and they will give you advice on how to keep growing as time goes on.
