MSN Lifestyle: How to Effectively Disinfect Sheets According to Kathy Turley of Home Clean Heroes
The residential home cleaning franchise’s Director of Marketing provides tips on how to clean and disinfect bed sheets amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Home Clean Heroes has some tips for Americans looking to step up their sanitation game.
According to MSN, bed sheets carry and contain a significant amount of germs and should be washed at least once a week in normal conditions. In the midst of a global pandemic, this mantra rings especially true, as simply “washing” your sheets in today’s may not be enough. Handle washing procedures with extra care is more vital now than ever.
"If you have disposable gloves handy, it's suggested that you wear those while performing these tasks," Kathy Turley of Home Clean Heroes told MSN. "If you don't have gloves, be sure to thoroughly wash your hands after touching the sheets and towels, and then follow up with hand sanitizer that is at least 60 percent alcohol based."
Home Clean Heroes also suggests not placing dirty or clean sheets into laundry baskets, as these are places where germs can be easily transferred. Instead, opt for carrying dirty sheets in a pillow case.
"You want to avoid `hugging' the sheets by carrying them in your arms/close to your body when walking to the laundry room," said Turley.
