Business Insider got to tour a factory in Gunzberg, Germany that produces approximately five million burgers for McDonald’s daily, and boy was it a learning experience.

The publication came out with some very interesting tidbits about the way brand favorites such as the Big Mac and Quarter Pounder are made.

For one, the smell of beef is so strong that it can even be detected in the reception area. Also, employee hygiene is mega-important, with items such as jewelry and plastic pens being verboten.

It’s a truly fascinating piece (complete with photos), so we encourage you to read the full report at Business Insider.
