In an interview with Bloomberg, Layne’s Chicken Fingers’ COO, Samir Wattar, offered insight into an unseen impact of supply chain problems in the restaurant industry: the impact it’s having on franchise expansion.
According to Wattar, it’s become increasingly difficult to acquire new kitchen equipment. “If I order a fryer today, it would probably not be ready until April or March of next year,” Wattar said. “I have the pipeline to open restaurants, and the problem is: Can I open with everything that’s going on?”
Wattar said that the issue has forced several planned openings to be delayed due to lack of fryers.
