Lightbridge Academy Focuses Expansion in Orlando Area

The expansion will add five new child care franchises and approximately 150 jobs.

Early education and child care franchise Lightbridge Academy experienced major growth in 2018, and the brand is focusing its next round of expansion on the Orlando, Florida area.

The brand plans to add five new locations in Orlando, a move that will create an estimated 150 jobs. With a population of more than two million, the Greater Orlando area is ripe with opportunity for the leading early education and child care franchise, and Lightbridge Academy is confident the brand will stand out and provide the much-needed early education and child care services to Florida families in the surrounding community.

“Florida is a strong growth market for our franchise opportunity,” Lightbridge Academy Senior Vice President of Franchise Development Mark Mele said. “The Greater Orlando area, in particular, is experiencing a major population boom and is one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the United States. With so many young families, a great opportunity exists to support them with the child care services in high demand for busy working parents.”

Lightbridge Academy, which was founded in 1997 and franchised in 2011, and specializes in not only providing high quality child care and educational services to young children, but also supporting the needs of the busy working parent. They offer programs for infants, toddlers, preschoolers and back-up care for school-aged children. Every Lightbridge Academy center is equipped with a coded entry system, internal video monitoring and silent alarms. Parents stay connected with the ParentView® Internet Monitoring which enables them to check in on their child throughout the day.

The brand prides itself on its diverse franchisee network. Lightbridge Academy franchisees come from a variety of backgrounds and work experiences, and the brand is actively seeking new franchisees for its Florida expansion.

“While it’s certainly beneficial to have a background or experience in child care, it’s more important that prospective franchisees have a managerial or business background,” Mele said. “We have an comprehensive training program that will give franchisees the tools and resources they need to succeed.”

Lightbridge Academy currently has 36 open locations and 70 more under development. The brand is mainly concentrated in the Northeast and the mid-Atlantic, and 2018 proved to be a remarkable year for the brand. Lightbridge Academy opened its first Virginia center earlier this year, and also signed its first two North Carolina franchise agreements, a move that supported the brand’s plan to add 10 locations over the next five years in that state.

Now, Lightbridge Academy has major goals for a Florida expansion as it works its way south.

In September, the brand announced its plans to expand into the Tampa Bay market, where it wants to open five new locations, and into the Jacksonville market, where three locations will be added.

“We’ve seen great success in the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic, and our Virginia Beach location has already proved to be a major success in the area,” Mele said. “No matter where you go, there will always be young families in need of high quality child care, and with a franchise model that can work anywhere, and balances early childhood education with nurturing care in addition to providing amazing opportunities for both our families and our franchisees.”

The startup costs for a Lightbridge Academy franchise range from $541,228 to $773,635. The franchise fee is $40,000. To learn more about franchising with Lightbridge Academy, visit https://lightbridgeacademyfranchise.com/.
