Houston Chronicle: 25-Year-Old Houston Native Opens IDEA Lab Kids to Give Back to Community
Houston native Shivam Bhatka on what drove him to open an IDEA Lab Kids franchise in the city.

For the past few years, Shivam Bhatka has been working in Washington D.C. in a role with the federal government, but the 25-year-old entrepreneur is returning to his native Houston for his newest venture: an IDEA Lab Kids franchise.
According to the Houston Chronicle, Bhatka decided he wanted to open an IDEA Lab Kids as a way to give back to his community in Cypress.
“You can teach a child chemistry, anatomy, and teach them to memorize concepts, but that’s not the way they learn,” he told the Houston Chronicle. “The way they learn is applying it through the arts. The moment you apply arts to the field of STEM, you make it a lot more practical, more engaging and relatable. I think that’s what makes IDEA Lab so innovative.”
Bhatka’s IDEA Lab Kids, located in the brand’s headquarter market, is approximately 2,500 square feet with a room set up for each element of STEAM.
