According to Startup Genome, Houston, Texas ranks as one of the top five global ecosystems for female entrepreneurs. IDEA Lab Kids CEO Ghazal Qureshi is one of the many female founders in the Houston area who have been given kudos from Startup Genome. Houston contains the fourth largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies, making it a prime area for entrepreneurs. Right behind New York City and Shanghai, Houston holds the fifth spot on the “Top 25 Ecosystems for % of Female Founders,” according to Startup Genome. 

IDEA Lab Kids was recognized as a “successful female-founded startup” on Startup Genome’s list of successful female entrepreneurs. The children’s learning franchise currently has 18 locations across Houston and 80 campuses overall. Qureshi’s passion for being a mom and providing the best educational opportunities for her children are what lead her to creating IDEA Lab Kids.

“I decided to leave my job and be a stay-at-home mom,” said Qureshi. “I loved spending time with my kids but I missed the camaraderie and work interactions of a full time job. I still wanted to spend as much time with my kids as possible and I did not want to go back to work, so I had to figure out how to make the right opportunity happen.”
