KIAH CW39 Houston: D-I-Y Activities for Pi Day
IDEA Lab Kids Houston Project Manager Laura Garza & STEAM on Demand Instructor Fernando Moguel show off some great educational activities you can do at home for Pi Day.
March 14 is Pi Day, and while many people celebrate with pizza pies and dessert pies, there are also fun, educational activities that pay tribute to the number pi (3.14159) and its relationship to circles. Laura Garza, project manager, and Fernando Moguel, STEAM on Demand instructor with IDEA Lab Kids Houston, joined KIAH CW39 to share some educational activities that kids can do on Pi Day.
Art Bots, Pi City and the Wheel Design Challenge allow students to conceptualize, design and test out circle-related crafts. The activities are simple enough to recreate at home, often using common household items, but they create an opportunity for students to see real-world applications for circles and the number pi.
