Mathnasium Learning Centers, a leading math-only tutoring franchise with over 1,200 locations worldwide, is once again celebrating Pi Day with a variety of engaging events and initiatives designed to make math fun and accessible for kids. This year, Mathnasium is partnering with CAMP, a family experience company, to offer a unique blend of math and fun at nine CAMP locations across the United States. Local leaders are gearing up for another great Pi Day, full of engaging activities and fun with math.

National Sweepstakes and Pi Day-Themed Adventures

To kick off the partnership, Mathnasium and CAMP are hosting a national sweepstakes, offering three lucky winners a $3,140 educational scholarship and a $314 CAMP gift card.

Participating CAMP locations will also feature Pi Day-themed adventures, including a Mathnasium-branded slime bar where kids can create their own slime from three exclusive Pi Day-inspired slime recipes — including one that uses numbered beads to incorporate the digits of Pi into the slime itself. Once complete, kids can explore Pi by stretching and squishing their Pi slime, and fishing-out the numbers.

This partnership is a great way for Mathnasium to gain exposure to a whole new audience of potential students in a way that can immediately impact franchisees.

Mathnasium locations will also host Pi Day-themed events, including a crafting station where kids can create their own beaded Pi Day bracelets representing the digits of Pi and personalize a charm to commemorate the day. Each location will be decked out in colorful Pi Day decorations, and guests can enjoy fun activities like temporary tattoos, confetti poppers, and pizza.  Activities will include exploring and visualizing Pi, memory games, and Pi-themed word searches, offering a playful and educational experience for kids of all ages.

Making Math Fun and Meaningful

Mathnasium's mission is to make math fun and meaningful for kids. Pi Day provides a unique opportunity for students to explore and visualize the endless possibilities of Pi, sparking curiosity and fostering a love for learning that goes beyond the classroom.

"As we celebrate Pi Day, we’re reminded that math is so much more than formulas and equations—it’s a playground of ideas,” said Michael Stanfield, Chief Marketing Officer. “At Mathnasium, we believe that when math is fun and engaging, children become curious, receptive learners who build deeper understanding and confidence. That excitement lays a strong foundation they’ll carry with them, not just during their academic journey, but in every aspect of their future.”

By incorporating Pi into activities that kids are genuinely interested in, Mathnasium encourages students to embrace math, and it takes fear out of the equation. Last year, thousands of kids across the globe explored Pi, and one even memorized 122 digits of the number — proving that when math is made fun, it’s also more approachable and easier to understand.

Franchisee Involvement and Success

Mathnasium encourages its franchisees to actively participate in Pi Day celebrations and leverage the event to engage with their local communities and attract new students.

"The importance of Pi Day is making it a community event," said Julie Remington, a California Mathnasium Learning Center Director who won Mathnasium’s Pi Day Party Host of the Year Award in 2024. "We are awesome and have a lot of families that are already members of Mathnasium, but to open it up and celebrate a fun math holiday with everybody is kind of another underlying goal of why we do this event."

Remington explained that, leading up to the event, she delivers pies to neighboring businesses in the shopping center, and while the Pi Day parties are going on, Mathnasium’s doors are open, framed by balloons to catch the attention of passersby and bring them into the celebrations, too.

Each franchisee is supported with what is fondly known as the “Pi Day Party Pack” — a complete kit of Pi Day activities, pre-designed marketing materials, and social media templates to set each center up for success. This turnkey marketing system allows each franchisee to easily execute a successful local event.

National partnerships like the one with CAMP and the actions of local leaders like Remington help to drive awareness of Mathnasium across the country, further solidifying the brand’s status as a leader in its industry.

“A lot of kids are used to being scared of math, and they’re especially scared of the number Pi,” said Becky McDaniels, a franchisee in Florida who won Mathnasium’s Pi Day Party Host of the Year Award in 2023. “We like to celebrate the day and show kids where they can use the number in real life and how math can be fun. I know Mathnasiums across the country are celebrating, and we all contribute to the mission by inviting as many people as we can think of — schools, Chambers of Commerce, current enrolled students, and more. We want the whole community to get involved and enjoy Pi.”

Through these Pi Day celebrations and initiatives, Mathnasium is not only promoting math learning in a fun and interactive way but also strengthening its bond with the communities it serves.
