Minuteman Press Celebrates a Year of Incredible Franchisee Growth
The printing franchise provides a platform through which many franchisees have found great success and surpassed major milestones in 2023.
With nearly 1,000 locations, Minuteman Press International, a leading printing franchise, has long demonstrated its commitment to providing a reliable and scalable path to business ownership for local entrepreneurs. Franchisees offer industry-leading services, and with this, many have been able to multiply revenue by significant amounts, achieve revenue milestones, secure recognition from local organizations and, maybe most importantly, continue to grow in a business that is growing for them.
No matter their approach, these five franchisees have made major moves in 2023, building up their businesses and communities through Minuteman Press ownership.
David Ogden Joins the Ranks of the Million-Dollar Owners
This year, David Ogden, owner of Minuteman Press of Naples, Florida, reached the million-dollar mark thanks to his growth with the franchise. In January of 2021, Ogden began running his Minuteman Press business and was able to drive 400% year-over-year revenue growth by late 2022. With this, he acquired another local printing shop, Sunbelt Printing, and this expansion drove both businesses even further.
Now, Ogden is recognized as a Million Dollar Owner and is part of the Minuteman Press International President’s Club, a spot reserved for the brand’s top-performing franchisees.
As he continues to grow, Ogden relies on the same strategies that have allowed him to grow up to this point. Simply put, he listens to his customers and makes a genuine effort to meet their needs.
“I make time to meet and talk to customers at our front desk,” he said. “I always ask new customers, ‘What other kind of printing do you use?’ About 70% of the time, I discover new potential business. For example, our very large direct mail customer came from asking that one simple question, which added $30K per month in new revenue.”
Nashville Minuteman Press Team Leaves a Permanent Mark on Local Attraction
Printing makes up a substantial portion of Minuteman Press’s business, but it certainly is not the only offering franchisees can provide. This year, Nashville franchisee John Taylor left a lasting mark by completing an exterior full-vinyl-wrap of the front of house at the Grand Ole Opry House. Though the relationship began with a call about business cards, Taylor’s persistence led to an opportunity to personally shape a local historical landmark.
“I really am humbled and honored to be given the opportunity,” said Taylor. “Now, for the less-than-humble perspective; it was an intense scope of work... and we got the job done! We've had only positive feedback about this installation and people are loving the new face of the Grand Ole Opry House. My favorite reaction was from a security guard that said, ‘I haven't seen this many people stop and have their pictures taken in front of the building in years and years!’ He's been there over 15 years, so that was so gratifying to hear him say that.”
Phoenix, Arizona Minuteman Press Owner Builds a Lucrative Business Run Solely by Women
Minuteman Press has long demonstrated a passion for helping entrepreneurs achieve their unique goals, and for Angie Avers, who now owns a Minuteman Press business in Phoenix, part of this unique dream was to build a woman-led business.
“I left the corporate environment after nearly 30 years because I was tired of working for someone else and not feeling valued as an employee,” explained Avers. “After looking at what Minuteman Press International has accomplished and what they were about, I was sold! I knew they wouldn’t judge me for my age or my background, and the key part of it all was, ‘We’ll train you.’ My background is in marketing and communications, and why wouldn’t I want to help other business owners build their business with print and promotional products?”
Now, Avers runs what she describes as a “full-service print and marketing design company exclusively run by women” and strongly believes that the work ethic, honesty and compassion of her female team has been crucial to her success with the brand.
Colorado Springs Owners Drive Sales up Nearly 400%
In 2019, Alana and Ramon Alvarez took ownership of a Minuteman Press business that had been operating in the community for about 15 years. This year, the pair is approaching the 400% revenue growth mark, bringing the franchise to new heights in their community.
While the pair recognizes the support of the Minuteman Press team as a major contributor to their local growth, their own dedication to the business and their clients has been instrumental, too.
“Our small business has evolved into a one-stop shop for our clients, providing design, print, promotional items, direct mail and more. We are now providing vehicle and window graphics, along with building sign replacements. We won’t stop there, ensuring we continue to listen to our clients, and treating each of them like a VIP,” said Ramon.
Londonderry, New Hampshire Franchisee Wins Business of the Year
Bob Bean, owner of Minuteman Press in Londonderry, New Hampshire, has been building his business since 2015. In accordance with the Minuteman Press model, he made a quick effort to get involved in his community shortly after opening, and in addition to business growth, the effort has paid off in recognition.
This year, Bean received the Business of the Year award from the Greater Derry Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, recognized for the impact he and his business have had on the community.
“Receiving the Business of the Year is a humbling experience,” said Bean. “It was a surprise; I did not know that we had made such an impact in the Chamber and business community for this recognition. We have just tried to provide services to the businesses and the community to the best of our ability. It is great to be recognized and know that we are doing a good job within the communities that we serve.”
As Minuteman Press celebrates a year of successes and continues to grow, it maintains its emphasis on offering a strong business model that allows ambitious entrepreneurs and involved community members to join the system and access the resources they need to build a business and achieve their unique entrepreneurial goals.
