Minuteman Press, the nearly 1,000-unit print service franchise, is a powerhouse for print services and a great investment opportunity for potential franchise owners. While working for Parent’s Magazine, Roy Titus noticed that the printing industry was vast and ripe with untapped potential. It was from this observation that the idea for Minuteman Press was born, and it has been in the Titus family for 50 years.

The shop started in 1973 with Roy Titus, his son Bob Titus and business partners Jim Galasso and Dave Scadin, and they started franchising in 1975. The stores quickly spread all over the Long Island area, and many are still in operation today and run by the same families that started them.

Today, Minuteman Press remains both a family business, with Bob’s son, Nick Titus, the current president and a great franchise opportunity. With a proven business model, large support team, great work-life balance and more, Minuteman Press has a lot to offer to prospective franchisees.

Proven Business Model

Over its 50 years of existence, Minuteman Press has created and honed its proven business model of providing marketing materials, digital print services and more to local businesses. By offering these kinds of products that all businesses need, franchisees are able to build a community around them that helps them stay successful.

“We came from the restaurant business and were looking for something that was specifically B2B. We liked the Minuteman Press business model and the profit margin of the printing industry. We were also thoroughly impressed by the Minuteman Press International corporate culture and staff as a whole,” said Bryan and Johnel Nunes, Minuteman franchisees since 2004.

Large Support Team

Minuteman Press has one of the largest support systems in franchising, with over 25 regional support teams that are there to help with anything from onsite management to marketing assistance. Minuteman franchisees are provided with comprehensive training, ongoing support, proprietary software and marketing support. Minuteman lays out all the systems and guidelines for franchisees to follow and is waiting in the wings for assistance. Though franchisees don’t have to follow the setup guidelines to a T, Minuteman has found that those who follow the system the closest are the most successful. This system has been meticulously created and refined over the last 45 years that the brand has been franchising and has been proven to lead franchisees to success.

“If you need anything, you can pick up the phone. If they can’t answer it on the spot, they will get you an answer. From vendors to coming down and helping you go out to get sales, they want to see you succeed,” said Steve Brunk, a franchisee with Minuteman since 2007.

Royalty Incentive Program

Minuteman’s royalty structure is capped at a monthly sales level, and once franchisees hit that level, they don’t have to pay any more royalties on additional sales. This puts qualifying owners in a far better position to receive value and fuel growth. Jared Ostendorf, a franchisee in business with Minuteman since 2009, had this to say about the royalty incentive program: “From day one, we’ve reached the cap, which has been great. I have a bigger incentive to grow because I know I’m not going to pay any more royalties on any sales I make.”

Normal Business Hours

One of the biggest benefits of owning a franchise is being able to take back your time and add to your quality of life, and Minuteman Press fits perfectly for owners who are attracted to that aspect of franchising. With a proven business model and starting system in place, Minuteman makes it easy to work normal business hours, with all Minuteman Press locations open Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. This schedule allows franchisees to service the business community and still maintain a proper quality of life.

Endless Client Possibilities and a Wide Variety of Revenue Streams

In the printing industry, nearly every business is a potential client, because nearly every business uses some kind of marketing materials, whether it is brochures, direct mail campaigns, apparel or promotional items. And since Minuteman Press also provides full graphic design services, they can produce pretty much anything you can put a name, image or logo on.

“As soon as I educate clients on our ability to go beyond printing, their mindset changes and suddenly they realize they can use our services for their apparel and promotional needs,” said Frank Matsumoto, franchise owner since 2010.

The total cost to invest in Minuteman Press ranges from $100,000  to $150,000 when leasing the equipment. To learn more about franchising with Minuteman Press, visit
