MLB All-Star Adrian Gonzalez Joins Jersey Mikes as Multi-Unit Franchisee

The New York Mets first baseman owns six units and plans to open more

In Adrian Gonzalez’s 14 years in the MLB, he has played for four (soon to be five) teams and appeared in five all-star games. The heavy-hitting first baseman has also earned two Silver Slugger Awards and four Golden Gloves among a number of other awards. Now, the newly-signed New York Met is boosting his stats off the field with another East Coast fan favorite — Jersey Mike's, the fast-casual sub franchise that was founded in New Jersey before expanding to over 1,500 locations across the U.S.

Six of those locations are now owned by Gonzalez and his operating partner Ken Nicola. Gonzalez and Nicola purchased their locations from a previous owner, and all six are currently open for business. Gonzalez says he plans to open at least five more Jersey Mikes restaurants within the next five years.

In a press release, Nicola said, “Adrian and I are focused on providing our customers with an authentic sub sandwich experience — just like they would have found at our very first sub shop at the Jersey Shore. Our premium meats and cheeses are sliced on the spot, we use the freshest vegetables, and add a splash of that irresistible Juice, our signature red wine vinegar and olive oil blend.”
