When Ben Bost went to college at Lee University, his roommate at the time was Evan Cagle. Cagle co-founded Speedy Patch Drywall Repair four years earlier with his father Christian Cagle. He invited Bost to assist with summer work, and Bost proved to be naturally talented.

Later, when Bost realized his career path in the medical field was not actually what he wanted, he reconsidered his career options, and Speedy Patch seemed like a fantastic choice. Christian invited Bost to move to Columbus, Ohio, where the emerging franchise is headquartered, and shadow him for about a year to learn the business's ins and outs.

“He’s a good teacher, and I'm a quick learner,” said Bost. “After the first couple of weeks, I was able to be doing it myself with him just watching over and giving me pointers. After I got the skill down, he would take me along to do some of the biddings, and I would just kind of be a fly on the wall in those conversations with the homeowners. It was a step-by-step process where he was there holding my hand at first until I could fly and do everything on my own.”

Then in August, Bost moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he’s preparing to start operations of his own branch of Speedy Patch.

“Everything is going well,” said Bost. “I am starting up and focusing on meeting people and making as many connections as I possibly can. I’m trying to network with anybody in all trades because you never know what connection will bring you a lot of work. I’m very excited.”

Bost knows that Speedy Patch will stick out from the competition in the area because the brand works directly with homeowners, adding convenience and professionalism. The franchise is also known for its rapid results.

“We can be in and out in hours where other companies are taking three or four days to do it,” he said. “Our systems separate us from anybody else in this field. I've given estimates when people ask how long it will take us, and when I tell them it will be done by the afternoon, they're amazed.”

Bost said there is a “massive need” for drywall repair services in the area, citing retiring tradesmen and not a lot of younger talent in the service industry. So, he’s ready to take on all the work he can get.

“I want to be able to provide for myself and my wife, and eventually want to have employees and change their lives so they can provide for themselves as well,” said Bost. “Focus on helping people, and then success will follow that — that’s something Christian has taught me. And that's what really drives all of us at Speedy Patch and separates us from others.”
