News & Record: Back Yard Burgers looking to make Triad return
Back Yard Burgers, the national restaurant franchise, returns to Triad.
Back Yard Burgers is looking to make an unforgettable statement with its return to the Triad area by opening six to eight restaurants over the next three to five years. The two original Back Yard Burgers restaurants closed between 2008 and 2012 in Greensboro and High Point after the brand started to stray away from its roots.
Back Yard Burgers CEO David McDougall told the News & Record that the company had begun to focus on discounting value meals, which is not what patrons wanted out of the brand.
“They wanted good quality food at a reasonable price with good service behind that,” McDougall said.
Since 2012, Back Yard Burgers has focused on improving its relationships with its franchise owners and has returned to its roots by reducing their menu offerings and keeping their classic items on the menu. The brand is looking for franchisees to open the six to eight new locations in the area and is developing a new store design to appeal to new business owners.
