Paris Baguette, the tres popular bakery café concept with more than 4,000 locations worldwide, is bringing its famous menu of authentic croissants, decadent cakes and coffee to Long Island this year.

Experienced franchise owners Sam Lamba and his business partner Alex Young, who started their franchise careers with electronic retail outlets in the 1980s, now own more than 50 New York locations of a Taiwanese-based bubble tea concept, as well as a handful of Häagen-Dazs locations.

Now, with the help of Lamba’s daughter Shauny L. English, who is the co-owner of yoga and barre studio SHAKTIBARRE, Lamba, Young and English plan to expand the Paris Baguette franchise on Long Island.

Young has a particularly intimate relationship with the brand. “I’ve always loved their products,” he said. “It’s a big part of our community. Every time we have a friend’s birthday, we get a cake from Paris Baguette. I had always thought about opening one, and now I am.”

Now a global franchise powerhouse with nearly 90 U.S. locations, Paris Baguette serves a menu that includes all the baked goods worthy of any bakery café, including breads, coffees, salads, sandwiches and delicious desserts.

“Paris Baguette has really strong brand recognition, and yet there's room to grow,” said English. “We’re excited to open our Paris Baguette locations on Long Island and are thrilled more are being developed in this area. Aside from having a good, strong brand, they also have a really great product, and we’re excited to bring them here.”

In addition to the six locations that English and her partners have signed on for, Mark Mele, Paris Baguette’s Chief Development Officer, believes Long Island could support as many as 15 to 20 locations.

“We are just getting started on Long Island franchise expansion,” said Mele. “And with more seasoned, smart and passionate people like Sam, Alex and Shauny as our partners, we think there’s no limit to what we can achieve in this market.”

Lamba agrees that this concept has a strong business development plan ahead of it. “The future looks very strong because the stores are already an established brand,” he said. “We are ready to open six stores minimum. After the first six, we want to open a lot more.”
