Marc Drapp’s background is in accounting and finance, but he has also owned his own doggy daycare business on the west side of Cincinnati since 2018. Now, he has added Pet Wants—a one-of-its-kind concept disrupting the pet food market with its mission to improve the nutrition, health, vitality and well-being of pets—to his portfolio. He took over ownership of his first location in Hamilton in December, and now he will be opening his second location in Loveland.Drapp has always had a love for dogs. When his own dogs started to contract stomach issues, he switched to Pet Wants food and has remained a customer for the last five years as he noticed the nutritional value. Combining his previous work experience, passion for dogs and loyalty to the brand, he knew Pet Wants was the right fit for him.He will be opening his second location in Loveland at&nbsp;110 South 2nd St. Loveland, Ohio 45140 early this summer.PROFILE QUESTIONS1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us.&nbsp;What did you do before franchising, and how did you decide franchising made sense for you?Drapp:&nbsp;My background is in accounting and finance. I started in public accounting three years after college. Then I became the CFO of a manufacturing company. When I became the CEO of that company, it was sold to a private equity firm. I also opened my own dog daycare on the west side of Cincinnati in 2018. I have always had a love for dogs and dogs in my family. When I saw the business profile of Pet Wants for sale, I was automatically intrigued because I was already in the daycare business. Now I could get involved in the nutrition perspective as well. I had also been a customer for five years, so I knew the products they were selling really did have nutritional value for dogs. I took over ownership of a location in Hamilton in December, and now I am expanding with my location in Loveland.1851:&nbsp;What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?Drapp:&nbsp;I’ve been a customer of Pet Wants for five years, so I understand the benefit of the food. A few of our dogs had irritable bowels and sensitive stomachs, and it’s gone away since I started using the Pet Wants product.1851:&nbsp;What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?&nbsp;Drapp:&nbsp;I am focused on the Hamilton and Loveland locations for now, but the ultimate plan is to have three or four locations in the area.1851:&nbsp;What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming a franchise owner?Drapp:&nbsp;There are&nbsp;positives to being part of a franchise. It is an established brand, and there is support from the corporate team.
