Huntsville, AL – After 24 years of service in the Army, veteran Ron Hicks decided to pursue business ownership with Pool Scouts, a pool cleaning and maintenance franchise concept. As one of the first Black franchise owners with Pool Scouts, Hicks was excited to round out Black History Month with a February 28th ribbon cutting.

While Hicks conducted a soft opening late in March 2022, this year presents the first full-length in-season of operations.
Through his own experience, Hicks hopes to serve as a mentor for other business owners in the community as they take their first steps toward entrepreneurship. Now, as a local entrepreneur, Hicks says he is looking forward to engaging with the community, securing partnerships with local swimming organizations and advocating for pool safety awareness.
