Post Malone Arranged to Give Away Free Crocs at Chicken Express, His Former Employer

Those who didn’t get a free pair of the rapper’s latest Croc collaboration can purchase them starting Dec. 10.

Long before he was rapping about making a lot of money and making it far, Post Malone was making money by working at his local Chicken Express in Texas.

The 24-year-old rapper, born Austin Post and also known as “Posty,” certainly has made it far since he was a teenage employee, but he clearly hasn’t forgotten about that particular employment experience. This week, the Chicken Express in Southlake, Texas, where Malone used to work, offered a $6 menu item referred to as “The Posty Special” that included a complimentary pair of the rapper’s latest collaboration with Crocs, according to a local Texas CBS news report. Malone arranged for the Crocs to be given away, according to the report.

The new Croc is called the Posty x Crocs Duet Max Clog and it comes in black and blue camouflage. Malone was not on hand to pass out the Crocs themselves, but that didn’t make the experience any less special or exciting for fans and customers.

It’s fitting that Malone would give away shoes. In a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Malone confessed that he spent $800 of the money he made from his job at Chicken Express on a pair of Versace loafers.

“I was weird,” he told the magazine.

This isn’t the first time a celebrity has given back via their former fast food employer. Back in 2008, actress Eva Longoria went back to the Corpus Christi Wendy’s she worked at as a teenager to hand out Frostys and fries for charity.

There’s clearly something about Texas.

Moral of the story: Be nice to your employees, fast-food franchise owners! You never know how far they’ll go—and how generous they will be to your customers.
