Franchisee Voices: Edwin Young of Right at Home
After watching his own grandmother receive in-home care, Young knew he wanted to partake in providing this service within his community.

During the past six years, Edwin Young has been successful with his Right at Home territories in Austin and Brenham, Texas, leading him to expand the brand into San Marcos, Texas.
After graduating from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in business, Edwin embarked on a career in sales and marketing with well-known brands such as the Dial Corporation and General Electric.
Growing tired of the traveling that kept him away from his family, Edwin decided he wanted to go into business for himself and began looking for opportunities. After his grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, the family held a meeting to discuss how in-home care would better her life.
Appreciating the services his grandmother received, Edwin started looking at in-home care business opportunities. With help from a franchise consultant, he was introduced to Right at Home. In 2009, Edwin began his journey with Right at Home, bringing the brand to the Austin community. Due to the success he saw in Austin, he opened his second location in Brenham four years later.
This past January, Edwin expanded the brand into San Marcos, bringing his total to three different Right at Home locations.
How did you find out about Right at Home?
I had help from a franchise consultant. I was looking at in-home care and they introduced me to Right at Home.
Why did you choose an opportunity with Right at Home?
The quality of the franchisees who I spoke with really impacted my decision. They seemed happy and truly loved working with Right at Home. The company’s culture and what they stand for felt right to me as a franchise system that I wanted to be a part of.
What personal experience do you have in your own family with caring for a senior?
My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. In addition to the help from my family members, we decided she should receive in-home care, as well. Seeing how comfortable she was with staying in the familiarity of her own home sparked my interest, and I wanted to provide this service throughout the community.
