Grounded in faith and inspired by purpose, the Clarks are setting out to build more than a company; they are building a movement of compassion, one senior, one caregiver and one family at a time.1851 Franchise spoke with the couple to learn more about their backgrounds, their decision to enter the franchise world and their plans for the future.&nbsp;1851 Franchise: Frame your personal story for us. What do you want us to know?Billy Clark: We’ve been married 32 years and have two kids who both work in the public sector&nbsp; — one in medical nursing and the other as a director of a Montessori school. My career has been entirely business-focused, working in consumer trade book publishing, sales, marketing, analytics and leadership roles.Anita Clark: I’ve spent over 20 years in nursing, working in hospitals and doctor’s offices. I took some time off to raise our children, and when I returned to work, I moved into teaching in Montessori schools. I was born in India and came to the U.S. when I was two years old. Caring for others has always been a huge part of my life.1851: What was your perception of franchising prior to becoming a franchise owner, and what do you want people to know about franchising now that you are in it?Billy: I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit, even while working in the corporate world. I was involved in leadership, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions — you name it. So transitioning into business ownership felt very natural. But when we talked about our next step, we didn’t just want to run a business for the sake of it. We wanted to do something that mattered.Anita: I’ve always had a heart for helping others. Every community I’ve been a part of, I’ve looked for ways to serve. When we started looking at franchises, it wasn’t just about business — it was about finding something meaningful that allowed us to continue that service.1851: What made you pick this brand? What excites you most about this company?Billy: We worked with a franchise consultant who identified a few options, but Seniors Helping Seniors® really stood out. It wasn’t just about business — it was service-driven. Both of us have been caregivers for family members, so we know firsthand how difficult and emotional that role can be. We saw a real need for support in our community.Anita: I really connected with the start-up story of the franchise. The founder’s work with Mother Teresa resonated deeply with me. Having worked in healthcare, I’ve always admired that level of dedication and service. It wasn’t just a business—there was a mission behind it.1851: What do you hope to achieve with your business? What are your plans for growth?Anita: We want to help as many people as we can, including veterans and underserved communities like the Apache Nation. There’s such a need here for seniors who have retired far from family and need local support.Billy:&nbsp;Our mission is to help seniors age with dignity and to provide relief for primary caregivers who are often carrying a heavy burden. Long-term, we want to be a trusted resource throughout Northern Arizona, expanding our reach and deepening our impact.1851: Is there anything else about your story you want us to know?Billy:&nbsp;Our journey has always been about caring for others. We really believe this business will allow us to make a positive impact in the lives of seniors and their families.Anita: We are very faith-based people. Our faith informs everything we do, and we believe this business is a way to live out those values in our community.1851: What advice do you have for other people thinking about becoming franchise owners?Billy: Don’t do the journey alone. Having a mentor or coach — someone you can bounce ideas off of — is crucial. Before you dive into the FDDs and paperwork, take the time to center yourself and really think about what you want. Those early conversations made all the difference for us.Anita: When you pick a franchise, look inward first. Find something you deeply connect with.
