At this year’s Pita Pit Annual Conference, Bowling Green franchisees Tom and Kate Dake won the award for “Franchisee of the Year.”

The conference was particularly special because the brand celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

Kate and Tom first heard about the brand from Kate’s brother, Steve Gesicki. When he was a student at BGSU, Steve used to be a delivery driver at PIta Pit. He worked his way up through the ranks and eventually became a General Manager.

During Steve’s time as General Manager, the location went up for sale. So, the couple decided to pair their entrepreneurial personalities with Steve’s experience with the brand.

“We decided with his Pita Pit experience and our business experience, we could make it work,” Kate told the Sentinel-Tribune.

Since signing with the brand, they’ve seen great success. Kate and Steve now own and operate four Pita Pit locations in Ohio.

Established in 2005, Pita Pit now boasts over 500 locations worldwide.
