ServiceMaster Restore Supports Veteran Hiring Through Hire Heroes USA
The franchise is helping veterans find jobs through recruitment resources, fundraising events and support from its franchise owners.

ServiceMaster Restore is continuing to support veterans through its partnership with Hire Heroes USA. The company has raised funds for the organization and developed hiring resources to help franchise owners recruit veterans and military spouses.
Air Force veteran Chris Jeter and Navy veteran John Holobinko know firsthand how difficult the transition to civilian life can be. Now ServiceMaster Restore franchise owners, both recognize the value of the skills veterans bring to the restoration industry.
“I know how hard it is to transition from the military mindset to a civilian mindset, and Hire Heroes USA offers the tools needed to be able to do that,” Jeter said.
Since 2023, ServiceMaster Restore and ServiceMaster Clean have raised over $1,000,000 for Hire Heroes USA, which provides free career services to veterans and military spouses. Hire Heroes USA also named ServiceMaster Restore its 2025 Partner of the Year.
The companies' fourth annual We Serve: Veterans Golf Tournament was another opportunity to bring franchise owners, vendors and military supporters together. Approximately 200 guests were expected to attend, while franchise owners across the country organized additional local fundraising events.
“Since we partnered with Hire Heroes USA in 2023, we have seen tremendous support from the Restore and Clean networks,” said Kim Brooks, President of Franchising for ServiceMaster Restore. “From this annual golf event to the many local events hosted by franchisees, our franchise networks have embraced this partnership and have made it their own.”
Beyond fundraising, ServiceMaster Restore is working with Hire Heroes USA to connect veterans directly with employment opportunities throughout its franchise network. The company has established a dedicated landing page on the Hire Heroes USA careers website and developed recruitment materials for franchise owners. These resources include veteran-focused job descriptions, interview outlines and goal-setting tools designed to help franchise owners recruit and support former service members.
ServiceMaster Restore is also working with CareerPlug to relaunch its hiring platform across the Restore and Clean networks. The initiative includes a Hire Heroes USA component that will increase veterans' exposure to available positions as more franchise owners adopt the platform.
These efforts give franchise owners additional hiring resources while helping veterans identify opportunities where their military experience can be valuable.
Jeter also appreciates the chance to spend time with fellow veterans at events like the annual golf tournament.
“The golf tournament is a fun event,” Jeter said. “I'm not a golfer, but getting out there and mingling with former military people and just being able to build camaraderie and tell stories and explain what it's been like since I've gotten out has been great.”
Holobinko served as a naval officer during the Gulf War after graduating from Penn State. During his military career, he worked as an electrical officer and damage control officer, gaining experience in personnel management, equipment maintenance and military operations.
He initially planned to pursue a corporate career after leaving the Navy but ultimately decided to become a business owner. He started with a Merry Maids franchise before expanding into ServiceMaster Restore, attracted by the restoration industry's growth opportunities and the support of other franchise owners. Holobinko credits his military experience with teaching him how to manage people, develop leaders and plan ahead. He has incorporated many of those lessons into his business, including organizational structures and equipment maintenance procedures.
“The military taught me that it's about having a team and having people there that you can count on,” Holobinko said. “You just keep going no matter what happens. The strength of the organization is the other franchise owners and helping you out. It's much like the military. We're all one big group.”
Holobinko said one of the hardest parts of leaving the military is losing the camaraderie that comes with serving together. He sees that same sense of teamwork among ServiceMaster Restore franchise owners, who share advice and help each other succeed.
ServiceMaster Restore's ongoing work with Hire Heroes USA is intended to make veteran hiring a regular part of franchise operations rather than limiting the partnership to annual fundraising events. The dedicated careers page, recruitment materials and CareerPlug integration give franchise owners practical ways to connect with veterans seeking employment. The initiative also provides opportunities for veteran franchise owners to support other former service members as they establish civilian careers.
“Every team, department and franchise across ServiceMaster Restore and Clean has embraced the opportunity to create meaningful employment outcomes for veterans and military spouses,” said Charlotte Creech, Chief Program Officer of Hire Heroes USA. “That kind of mission alignment creates real impact—not only for the military families being served, but for the communities and organizations investing in them.”
Through its continued investment in Hire Heroes USA, ServiceMaster Restore is working to expand employment opportunities for veterans while helping franchise owners recruit individuals with valuable leadership, teamwork and problem-solving experience.
