Over the next few months, Smoothie King and the New Orleans Pelicans hammered out the details of the partnership which included a rigorous review of Smoothie King&#8217;s products to ensure they met NBA&#8217;s strict athlete-friendly standards and on February 5, 2014 it was announced that the New Orleans Arena would be renamed the Smoothie King Center. Benson said in a press release partnering with Smoothie king, a Louisiana-based business, was perfect for the team and the state.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">&#8220;Introducing our home court as the Smoothie King Center is one of the goals we set when we purchased the team and we're excited to partner with a locally-incepted company in Smoothie King,&#8221; Benson <a href="http://www.louisianaweekly.com/home-grown-smoothie-king-gets-naming-rights-to-n-o-arena/?utm_source=1851franchise.com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=smoothie-king-partnering-with-new-orleans-pelicans-to-help-community-2975" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">said in February 2014</a>.</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">The partnership will last 10 years and the first game held at the stadium after being named the Smoothie King Center was the 2014 NBA All-Star Game. Smoothie King Marketing and Communications Manager Katherine LeBlanc said of the partnership,&nbsp;</span><span style="">&#8220;this is a great match and reestablished Smoothie King&#8217;s commitment to the city and shows that big names come from New Orleans. It has elevated brand awareness locally and nationally to let everyone know where Smoothie King is from.&#8221;</span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style=""><br /></span></div><div id="pastingspan1"><span style="">Smoothie King has leveraged the Smoothie King Center assets to launch the Smoothie King Race Team in New Orleans, inspiring their hometown audience to live healthy and active lifestyles LeBlanc said this project was to help elevate the brand and reward the community for participating.
