After more than six years as the CEO of Great Clips*, Rhoda Olsen has announced that at the end of 2017, she will give up her title and transition to vice chairwoman of the hair salon company. Great Clips’ current president, Steve Hockett, will become CEO. Chief Operating Officer Rob Goggins, in turn, will become president.

Olsen, who is now 64, joined Great Clips in 1984. By 1987, she had climbed her way up to executive and part owner. In 1998, she became president, and by 2011, she was leading the charge as the brand’s CEO. During that time, Great Clips went through some remarkable changes, too—and it’s no coincidence. Under Olsen’s watch, the brand grew from 1,000 salons in 1998 to more than 3,800 in 2015. In summer 2016, Great Clips celebrated the opening of its 4,000th salon (today there are 4,091) and recorded its 49th consecutive quarter of same-store sales growth.
