For the first time in the brand’s history, Panda Express has opened a street location in Manhattan and a store in the Bronx.

Both locations opened Saturday, Nov. 21, and will feature the brand’s staple menu items, as well as special items specially made for the New York market. The menu was inspired by the experiences of Andrew Cherng, Panda Express founder and co-chair.

“Having spent many years working in New York’s Chinatown restaurants early in my career, I have the utmost respect for the history and connection New Yorkers have with Chinese cuisine,” Cherng said according to QSR. “It is an honor to open in New York City and to have the opportunity to serve and share our family’s version of American Chinese food and hospitality. New York City deeply influenced my passion for food and service and it feels good to be back.”

One hundred percent of the locations’ first-day sales were donated to local youth organizations.

Panda Express plans to open two additional New York locations in 2016.
