Times-Herald: How This Veteran Found Success with Footprints Floors

After being discharged from the Air Force in 2013 due to hernias in his lower legs, Bob Linda found his munitions systems résumé was not in high demand in civilian life. Despite his wish to serve 20 years, he pivoted to a new career path. In October 2023, he established a business in California that would become Footprints Floors of Solano County, a franchise of the Denver-based Footprints Floors, founded by fellow Air Force veteran Bryan Park.

Currently, Linda operates the business solo as a production manager, salesman, and IT specialist. However, with the business thriving, he plans to expand his team soon, the Times-Herald recently reported.

The journey to where Linda is today wasn’t easy. After working in pest control with his uncle in Washington state and serving in the military, he struggled to find stable employment in the San Francisco Bay Area. Despite his experience and military-acquired skills, Linda faced difficulties securing city and county jobs due to his disabled veteran status, which he eventually chose to conceal to improve his job prospects.

Over a decade, Linda held various public utilities jobs throughout the Bay Area, from maintaining buses to clearing storm drains. However, tired of the instability, he sold his house in Vallejo, moved to Fairfield, and used the proceeds to start his own business. Despite warnings about the risks, Linda trusted his ability to succeed. Now, he is finding success as a Footprints Floors franchise owner.
