Top Franchise Legal Players: Kitt Shipe, Franchise of Council for Kilpatrick, Townsend and Stockton
Shipe shares her expert legal franchise analysis on business models, brand mistakes to avoid and why she chose the franchising industry to develop her legal expertise.
Kitt Shipe is a legal counsel with more than 20 years of experience setting up franchise models, buying and selling companies, counseling multi-unit agreements and virtually any other rigorous detail that you can imagine in the franchise legal industry. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law, and she now represents premier franchising professionals while working for Atlanta-based Kilpatrick, Townsend and Stockton.
Shipe spoke with 1851 Franchise and detailed how legal advice can complement the strengths of even the most innovative franchise models.
“The people who create brands are true entrepreneurs,” she said. “They are figuring out really interesting ways for people to earn a livelihood.”
By providing input and analysis for a wide range of franchises, Shipe has been able to help some of the nation’s most successful brands develop a complete business model for franchisors, franchisees and clients alike, complementing even the most creative minds.
“What I really love [about franchising] is hearing back from franchisees and hearing their success stories,” Shipe added. She mentioned further that her position is one that helps cultivate that success for many people, and how the reward can be extremely satisfying when it means changing somebody’s life for the better.
